The Holy Spirit is God and is co-equal to both the God the Father and Jesus Christ. He is a part of the trinity and can be worshiped, yet He is a gentle, quiet and invisible figure who does not draw much attention to himself.

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

– John 5 : 7

God has revealed himself in three ways or offices. The Father who is the all powerful, ever loving God who is the architect and creator of everything. He revealed himself to several people throughout the Old Testament, as the “God over us”. Then came Jesus Christ (The Word) at the start of the New Testament. He was God in flesh who came to partake in our sufferings and bear our sins. Jesus, was initially revealed as “God with us” or Immanuel. Then once Jesus completed his work on the cross, we were blessed with the New Testament. The single greatest promise of the New Testament is the possibility of “God in us”.

And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you

– Luke 24 : 29

The Holy Spirit is the fulfillment of this promise made by Jesus. The Spirit of God himself joined with our Spirit, Jesus himself living inside us. He is a like a person who has a will, intellect and emotions. He is also a part of the trinity or Godhead.

Real Life Inspiration

A preacher was challenged once, someone said to him. You Christians claim to be monotheistic, you say you worship the one true God and you criticize others saying they are idol worshipers for their many gods.Yet you worship three Gods and call it a trinity. That absolutely makes no sense. How can you explain your trinity?

The preacher replied, take the example of a pregnant woman. In her womb she has her own DNA and that of her husband. She also carries within her a completely new creation, her unborn child has its own DNA. The child has similarities to the parents but is also unique by itself.

God in the finitude of a woman’s womb can put three into one, think about how much more can he do in the infinitude of his mighty creation. The mystery and majesty of God is too great for a person to understand.

Life Application

Acknowledge and understand who the Holy Spirit is, he is co equal with God the Father and Jesus Christ.

The greatest Gift that God gives you is himself, he resides inside you.
Isaiah 55:8
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Titus 1:15
Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. 16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
Luke 8:11
“Now the parable is this: The
seed is the word of God. 12 Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. 13 But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away. 14 Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity. 15 But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.
Exodus 33:12
“See, You say to me, ‘Bring up this people.’ But You have not let me know whom You will send with me. Yet You have said, I know you by name, and you have also found grace in My sight.’ 13 Now therefore, I pray, if I have found grace in Your sight, show me now Your way, that I may know You and that I may find grace in Your sight. And consider that this nation is Your people.” 14 And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
