Psalms 38:4-5
For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me. 5. My wounds stink and are corrupt because of my foolishness.

☦️🌟 Let us fight against selfishness with prayer. Let us pray “Lord, Jesus Christ, have mercy on me” as much as possible, even at night. A body without a soul decomposes, begins to emit a stench, and becomes a source of infection. The same happens to the soul when there is no prayer in it. Let us always keep before our mental gaze the task - how to destroy this beast living inside us, our egoism...

Psalms 38:6-8
I am troubled; I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long. 7. For my loins are filled with a loathsome disease: and there is no soundness in my flesh. 8. I am feeble and sore broken: I have roared by reason of the disquietness of my heart.

The freedom of a true man consists in his freedom from the passions, in his resurrection with Christ, and in a joyous soul.

Psalms 38:9-11
Lord, all my desire is before thee; and my groaning is not hid from thee. 10. My heart panteth, my strength faileth me: as for the light of mine eyes, it also is gone from me. 11. My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my sore; and my kinsmen stand afar off.

☦️🕯️Without a struggle and shedding your blood, don’t expect freedom from the passions. Our earth produces thorns and thistles after the Fall. We have been ordered to clean it, but only with much pain, bloody hands, and many sighs are the thorns and thistles uprooted. So weep, shed streams of tears, and soften the earth of your heart. Once the ground is wet, you can easily uproot the thorns.🕯️☦️

Psalms 38:12-13
They also that seek after my life lay snares for me: and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long. 13. But I, as a deaf man, heard not; and I was as a dumb man that openeth not his mouth.

Psalms 38:14-16
Thus I was as a man that heareth not, and in whose mouth are no reproofs. 15. For in thee, O Lord, do I hope: thou wilt hear, O Lord my God. 16. For I said, Hear me, lest otherwise they should rejoice over me: when my foot slippeth, they magnify themselves against me.

Psalms 38:17-19
For I am ready to halt, and my sorrow is continually before me. 18. For I will declare mine iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin. 19. But mine enemies are lively, and they are strong: and they that hate me wrongfully are multiplied.

Psalms 38:20-22
They also that render evil for good are mine adversaries; because I follow the thing that good is. 21. Forsake me not, O Lord: O my God, be not far from me. 22. Make haste to help me, O Lord my salvation.

Psalms 39:1-2
I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me. 2. I was dumb with silence, I held my peace, even from good; and my sorrow was stirred.

"A true friend prays to God for his friend. A true friend cares about the salvation of a friend’s soul. To draw a friend back from false ways and set him on the true path – that is precious friendship. The Saints of God are man’s greatest friends.”
