Judges Hotel near Yarm is closing down to become residential, with weddings, proms and events being cancelled.

The 22-acre Hotel and Country House has a rich history dating back over two centuries. Originally built in 1791 as a private residence for a local solicitor, the Georgian mansion was designed by renowned architect John Carr.

In the early 20th century, the mansion fell into disrepair and was eventually sold. In the 1970s, the property was transformed into a luxury hotel, retaining many of its original features such as the impressive entrance hall, ornate plasterwork, and original fireplaces.

One of the most intriguing aspects of the hotel's history is the discovery of a secret bunker in its grounds.

The bunker was discovered in the 1990s and is believed to have been used as a command centre by British military forces during the Cold War.

Rishi Sunak's private Swimming Pool at his North Yorkshire Manor House has been in the news again after it emerged he spent what is reported to be tens of thousands of pounds upgrading the electricity grid to provide more power to heat his pool.

Engineers are said to have installed a substantial amount of new equipment and a new connection to the national grid running across open fields.

We took these exclusive photos last summer as the leisure complex was being constructed.

What are your memories of flying from Doncaster Sheffield Airport?

Doncaster Sheffield Airport has a long and rich history. It was first opened as Finningley Airfield in 1915 and served as a base for the Royal Flying Corps during World War I. The airfield was also used during World War II, primarily for training purposes. In the Cold War, Finningley was a key facility for nuclear-armed Vulcan bombers. The airfield was decommissioned in 1995, but reopened to passengers in 2005 as Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield. The airport has since served as a major hub for low-cost airlines and has helped to boost the local economy.

The Airport has recently been closed by owners Peel, with a campaign launched to being it into public ownership.
