Let us try, brothers, never to believe our own inventions. For truly nothing removes a person from God and from attention to his sins and does not encourage him to always be curious about what is not useful to him, like this passion: nothing good happens from this, but a lot of embarrassment, from this a person never finds an opportunity to acquire the fear of God. If, because of our depravity, evil thoughts are sown in us, then we must immediately turn them into good ones, and they will not harm you, because if we believe our guesses, there will be no end to them, and they will never allow the soul to be peaceful.
