Palestinian Christian's celebrated the feast of cross, with family gatherings, traditional foods and sweets and most importantly ceremonies, praying for their savor Jesus Christ.

The Feast of the Cross. This day commemorates when Empress Helena discovered the Cross in 326 AD.

Palestinian Christians light up crosses above their houses all week long. To celebrate this day, they, like other Christians in the East, make fire pits on hills and peaks, with a cross in sight. The reason for lighting the fires is that when the Empress discovered the Cross, Christians and her soldiers sent word to Constantinople via fire pits, starting from the Holy Land all the way to Constantinople.

This tradition is still honored in the East by both Catholics and Orthodox Christians

"Do you think that the man-loving God has given you much so that you could use it only for your own benefit? No, but so that your abundance might supply the lack of others."

If you cannot be merciful, at least speak as though you are a sinner. If you are not a peacemaker, at least do not be a troublemaker. If you cannot be assiduous, at least in your thought be like a sluggard. If you are not victorious, do not exalt yourself over the vanquished. If you cannot close the mouth of a man who disparages his companion, at least refrain from joining him in this.

+ St. Isaac the Syrian
"I love & cherish those who lived a wretched life & are now struggling more than those who do not suffer from passions. A shepherd will be more compassionate with the injured or sickly sheep & will give it more attentive care until it gets back on its feet again." ~ St. Paisios

"All of mankind, each and every individual is in a fallen and deeply corrupt state. Alone, man is incapable of purifying himself. He is unable to achieve salvation, or to become worthy of the Heavenly Kingdom. The purification is done by Jesus Christ, who came into the world for that very purpose. But only those are purified who believe in Christ and recognize their own corruption or, as we are accustomed to say, their sinfulness."

Galatians 3:1-2
O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? 2. This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
