Psalms 107:30-32
Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven. 31. Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! 32. Let them exalt him also in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders.

Psalms 107:33-34
He turneth rivers into a wilderness, and the watersprings into dry ground; 34. A fruitful land into barrenness, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein.

When a man reads in a common way lines that contain great meaning, he makes his heart common and devoid of that holy power which gives the heart a most sweet taste through perceptions that awe the soul.
Everything is wont to run to its kindred; and the soul that has a share of the Spirit, on hearing a phrase that has spiritual power hidden within, ardently draws out its content for herself.
Not every man is wakened to wonder by what is said spiritually and has great power concealed in it. A word concerning virtue has need of a heart unbusied with the earth and its converse; for when a man’s mind wearies itself with care about transitory things, the concerns of virtue do not awaken his thought to a longing and a quest to gain them.
+St. Isaac the Syrian

Psalms 107:35-37
He turneth the wilderness into a standing water, and dry ground into watersprings. 36. And there he maketh the hungry to dwell, that they may prepare a city for habitation; 37. And sow the fields, and plant vineyards, which may yield fruits of increase.

James 1:21-22
Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

True faith is so deep, that it takes lifetime to learn, and no matter who you are, how long you are in Church, there is always something God enlightens us with.
It also concerns those who say things about Orthodox faith without even little studying it.
St John of Kronstadt teaches: “When reading certain truths, do not say: «This is not new; I know this; I said this myself also.» All this is diabolical pride. Such a frame of mind responds with the following philosophy: «I know everything, good and evil.» It almost signifies: « I am omniscient.» And many people do not read sermons and religious books because they think that they know all that is written there–that all that is written there is a repetition of what has been known to them long ago; while worldly books, in which, indeed, there is always the one same empty worldly vanity, they read willingly, and sometimes several times over. O, impure flies that feed upon carrion!”

Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Meekness means gentleness and kindness, no selfishness and self-centeredness, it also has strive to overcome evil by good. To be meek requires real repentance and mourning for own sins. It requires spirit of humility - understanding that I am no better than others to judge, and from this goes meekness – when I restrain myself from movements of anger and overcome the wish to be offended or to offend, and when I do good quietly. No wonder it is one of the Beatitudes mentioned by Christ needed in our spiritual life.

"One cannot help looking upon the whole modern aberration as a kind of last "fall" of man, an imitation on a worldwide scale of the sin of the first man—the desire to be as God, to know fully. And who can say why God allows this— unless it be simply that in the end, as in the beginning, we confront Him.
There was no "reason" for the fall of the prodigal son— and yet how much joy there was on his return. Perhaps after all God "allowed" the modern age for the joy over the reception of repentant sinners at the end of it."
+ Blessed Seraphim of Platina
